Really strong cramps at night

This is the second day in a row where I prepare to sleep and I’ll get what feels like a strong period cramps on my left side which is what I imagine contractions to feel like and it’s a squeezing pain that doesn’t let up for like 30sec-1min. I keep thinking “uh oh here we go “ but I try to sleep anyways cause I know they’re supposed to get stronger and longer before I need to worry. But every time someone describes Braxton Hicks they say it’s not painful and it’s just a uncomfortable feeling. These are definitely painful and I can barely move through them. Are they still Braxton Hicks ? Also why only at night ? Does it mean I’m getting closer to labor? I’m 35 weeks today. I am not a first time mom but with my first I was induced and didn’t get to feel contractions because I got medicated right away so I’m a total noob and have no idea what contractions are supposed to feel like but I imagine that was it the last two nights in a row.
