Choosing to be induced?

My sister had a terrible experience giving birth to her first child. She kept telling them the baby was coming and no one at the hospital would believe her and said she isn’t going to have the baby yet and sent her away. Right after they sent her away she had the baby in less than 30 minutes. 
With her second 2 she choose to be induced and everything went so smoothly and the giving birth process was very easy and painless according to her. I’m about to have my first and she thinks I should get induced so I don’t have a experience like she had with her first. 
I know some people are against getting induced if it’s not medically necessary. What’s your opinion on choosing to be induced?

I honestly wouldn’t do it don’t let her bad experience scare you into something that isn’t medically necessary my labor came on fast and I literally had to hold my baby in for the dr to get in the room but I still wouldn’t chose to be induced

Wish I hadnt been induced with my last.   It increases the chance of needing medical intervention including a c section. I dont know where she got "easy and painless" because it was neither. 
My natural births were much easier and smoother. Unless it was medically needed, I'd refuse induction in future pregnancies.

Being induced should be a last resort because the baby or mother is in medical distress. I’m sure it can go well, as in your sister’s case, but unless it’s a medical necessity I’d avoid it. Inducing forces your body through the birthing process which means your body isn’t physically or hormonal ready but that baby is being forced out. 
My sister had to be induced because she was very low on amniotic fluid and it was planned a couple weeks in advance and she was monitored twice a week leading up to it. She was in active labour for over 49 hours, pushed for 4 hours, 4th degree episiotomy, baby had scalp monitoring (they pierced his scalp while still in my sister to get better readings), scalp suction for delivery....it was pretty traumatic. Hers was a life or death necessity, but there are so many physical and hormonal changes that need to happen to prepare your body and baby for birth. If those things are forced with induction your body is trying to catch up to those forced changes.

Every women’s experience is different. Every pregnancy is different. I think the best thing for you to do is discuss all your options with your doctor. I also recommend taking child birth classes were this will all be discussed in detail. 
I was induced with all three of mine because my doctors office would not allow anyone to go over 39 weeks. I had varying experiences with each birth. I would have preferred natural but unfortunately I did not have that option. 
No matter what anyone says choose the option that is best for the baby and that you feel the most comfortable in doing. In the end all that matters is getting mommy and baby through delivery safely. ❤️

Inducing is 100% unnecessary and I think I read that 5/10 inductions end up in c sections. Your body isn’t ready

I loved my induction. It went so smoothly. But, I was induced for medical reasons. I can see why your sister is saying you should. I’m sure she’s coming from a place of love and wants to save you from any “trauma”. She wants you to have the wonderful experience she had. 
With that said, I don’t really have an opinion of non medically necessary inductions. To each their own. I can see both sides and ultimately anyone’s opinion doesn’t matter. When it’s you giving birth, it’s your choice so long as you’re made aware of the pros and cons.

HELL NO!!! Being induced is completely unnecessary, puts more stress on the person giving birth and the baby and increases risk of c section.
You can safely go beyond 42 weeks per ACOG. 
Let your body do what it was meant to do.

Look up the ARRIVE trial. It’s actually been shown that first time moms induction at 38-39 weeks leads to less csections. I tried to get induced with my first but by the time they could schedule me I would have been 40+4 and sure enough at 40+2 baby stopped moving and I ended up in emergency csection. I really wish I had fought harder earlier to be induced at 38-39 weeks

I had NO issues getting induced using the pessary then two doses of 6hr fast acting gel. From start to finish of the last dose was 1hr and 5 min and my baby boy was born. 
I went from 2cm to 10cm in 20 minutes so was very quick. Just a tiny graze from him supermaning out of me lol. 
Every birth is different so as long as you're calm and know that whatever happens you are in the best place, you and LO will be taken care off.
Worst thing you can do is listen to everyone's birth story's lol.

It’s totally up to you, i had a similar experience with my first she was due New Years day 2015 i had sweep on the 2nd jan and a sweep on 6th jan and i kept telling the nurse/midwifes she was ready to come but she couldn’t break my waters no one listened to me said if she wanted to come she would i had terrible pains early hours of 10th jan went they gave me some tablets stronger than paracetamol sent me back home as i due to be induced 12/13 hours later as i went in to bed induced they felt me said i can just break your waters so she broke my waters and 45mins- 1 hour later she arrived, my son was premature he arrived in an hour and half so I would go with what ever you want to do everybody’s different some women feel pain more than others
