Spotting and loss of symptoms UPDATE

Alyssa • FTM to a beautiful baby boy.

So, I’m 5 weeks today and at about 4 weeks and 4 days I noticed that I woke up feeling great, no symptoms really (no morning sickness, no sore boobs (haven’t been super sore anyway), nothing). I didn’t think much of it at first, but besides I was maybe coming accustom to all of the fast changes that were happening. Then as the day progressed I noticed that I was having spotting. Light pink- red even. Not enough to fill a pad, but enough to really scare me. Ofcourse my first appointment isn’t until Jan 9th and I’ll be just shy of 7 weeks, and this was all happening on a Friday night so my doctor was out of the office. I went home and started having some back pain. I googled and it was the biggest mistake I’ve made so far- allllll bad. I had a mini meltdown, and my husband who was super supportive basically said “it is what it is”. I still wasn’t satisfied so I called the on-call doctor and spent over an hour on the phone!

He basically said that 1/3 of women bleed and as long as there are no SEVERE cramps (I’ve always been a little crampy) and it’s not heavy like a period, it’s hard to jump to a MC conclusion.

Went in on a Sunday to get my HCG quantitive done- I was told I’d have to come back in a couple days to make sure everything was progressing. (Goal was 5- 426). They called me within 2 hours as promised and my HCG was 3,037! (I was almost 5 weeks so this number indeed makes sense; they said a “very strong pregnancy”). No need to follow up with another HCG Quant. and the next step is for ultrasound!

I just wanted to shed some light for those of you that have had spotting and it’s your first like me, you turn to here or google and sometimes what you read can be discouraging. Follow your gut! Thank you all for your support 😘
