Question

Why is it when a man wants to take care of kids that aren’t his he’s a ‘a dream man’
But
If your child’s father has a girlfriend that wants to take care of your children she’s ‘overstepping her boundaries’ ?
Saw this on Facebook. Interesting food for thought.

I’d imagine it’s because men are more likely to abandon their children, and not be around to complain about overstepping.

From what I've seen I think the praise is usually there because the majority of the time the biological father isn't on the scene and has no contact with the child(ren) so the stepfather is providing a male role model that the child otherwise wouldn't have whereas the biological mother is almost always a key role in a child(ren)'s life so the role she has isn't seen as that vital because the child already has a mother

I think mothers are seen as more present parents than fathers. It varies by culture I guess, but I definitely would say i grew up with mothers being more involved. I hate to say it, but it’s kind of seen as normal for men to be not very involved. Mothers are expected to be involved and play a very prominent role in a child’s life. That’s the same reason women praise their men for even being good fathers. I don’t see many men being surprised that their wives are changing diapers and cleaning bottles. So for a man to step up to care for children that aren’t biologically or legally theirs is more of a surprise I guess? I hope I don’t come off as rude by saying this lol. I know men can be wonderful, involved fathers. But I know some can’t and there’s a societal expectation and norm.

I don’t find that at all , and if I do it’s because the mums are jealous and don’t want their ex partners with anyone else or their children near another women but are happy to have lots of men in and out their child’s life. 
My mum was like that and my step mum was absolutely amazing and because my mum acted like a crazy psycho she pushed us away and my god am I grateful to my step mum for stepping up

It’s biology. Women statistically have a stronger and quicker hormonal response to their children than men do. These hormones generally make female mammals more possessive and protective than male mammals. Male mammals can have a similar hormonal response, but it often takes longer to rise. There’s a lot of evidence of this, so I’d say these differences are biologically initiated, and then culturally perpetuated with women being primary caregivers and only trusting other women she is related to to care for her offspring (as shown in many tribes).

Theres a certain way to go about dating people with kids already but if you go about it respectfully, then I think it works out best for everybody. My nephew basically has two sets of parents because his mom and dad both picked out wonderful people who care for him and they all communicate about his needs

Guys come off as protectors and girls come off as nurturers. People are happy to see strong secure figure stepping in but the second a woman shows love or affection to another woman’s kid they have issues 😂 “don’t you dare hug my kid, cook for them, and make sure they have everything they need!” Women are dumb. Unless it is the uncommon occasion that the new female figure is trying to draw the kids away from the mother and get them to not like her. 🤷🏼‍♀️

If my ex had a woman he was committed to (good luck to you girl) I'd be more than happy if she was treating my son as her own. Why would I not want someone to love him as much as I do? He knows who his momma is and nothing is gonna change that.
