Fever blister

I usually get a few a year (stress, sunlight induced etc) so I always have the over the counter topical creams. My doctor hasn’t gotten back to me yet but anyone know if I can use the topical? My doctor will get back to me in the next hour or two but I’m trying to nip it in the bud before it gets bad lol
