Overwhelming Workload 😔 pt.2

On yesterday after an extremely hectic and busy day! My manager brings up the fact that we need an additional person. I took over the conversation from there and asked as many questions as I could. I asked: Do you think the attempt to do this (by eliminating an important job role) is to eventually eliminate this part of finance? Can we hire or reach out to customer service for an extra hand for an Admin Assistant? What happens if we become too overwhelmed and just quit?

I'm happy to say that she did say if by the end of our busy season they (meaning corporate) do not hire someone she's walking! I was shocked to hear her say that BUT I told her I'm glad she was open and honest with me because when I voiced my concerns over and over, I felt ignored. By her finally opening up to me, it helped me realize that maybe she did not respond previously because she wasn't sure if it was appropriate to with me as her employee. She told me as long as I continue communicating with her she will vouch for me as best she can and if I tell her I'm quitting she will raise hell to the department manager and HR to fix the problem because I'm the last of the team to do this work! It takes EXTENSIVE training 12-24 months to fully learn this job! And she said she refuses to lose me because of their selfishness to save money and not consider how their decision impacts our team.

I could've cried! For the first time EVER, I felt like my manager cares about me and IS listening to me! She told me to not allow myself to get run down because it's about to get crazy with the amount of work we have to do.

Lastly, she said she's doing the best she can to vouch my worth (money) since they don't want to add another person she feels I'm worth A LOT more because of it!!

I wasn't expecting any of this during our conversation but I took over because I wanted to make sure I was heard because at the end of the day the extra work load is falling on my shoulders.
