Will I know when I’m in labor

Question

I’m a ftm and I’m so scared. I have been having tightening all day and some sharp pains randomly also in my low back. I’m scared that I’m not gonna know when I’m in labor and think it’s just Braxton Hicks. Will the pain be so bad that I know it’s nothing else ??? I’m 35+2

During #2 pregnancy I had those moments where I "knew" I was going into preterm labor. 🙄 Yea, laboring to take a huge dump  🤦 
With both births, there was always THAT contraction where it's unmistakable that I was in labor. No guess work, but simple resignation that it was happening.

I just got mild contractions and when I went to hospital for the first pregnancy they said I was dilated already and had her a few hours later. 2nd pregnancy I got some contractions but I wasn’t dilated. Dr send me home and they got worst at night. I was sleeping and my water broke. Mind you my 1st pregnancy they broke my water. I’m 38 weeks pregnant now I get contractions here and there but nothing like hardcore. I went to hospital to check I’m 1cm dilated lol pathetic. Now I lost my mucus plug 3 days ago and nothing so far. Every pregnancy is different.

I didn’t realize I was in labor until my water broke. Then all the (albeit mild) cramps made sense. I felt silly but the nurses say it’s not always super obvious, especially at the beginning stages. If you’re feeling weird it’s best to call the doctor.

Not to scare you...... but I do not believe in “”you’ll know when it’s time”” 
Because I was always told contractions are in your belly... it’s tight... sharp... period cramps... can be in your thighs too... blah blah... 
well let me tell you. I looked out for ALL of these. Never experienced any of them! 
This was my first baby. I had massive lower back pain. That was it. Just back pain like I had been standing to long. I went to the dr on a Thursday, he said baby will be here soon. I was like ok whatever I don’t feel shit (all the signs I looked out for) my back pain continued. Saturday at 4am I called my parents crying (I was 18) I couldn’t walk my back hurt so bad my dad came and got me and we went to the hospital. I was 8cm !!! I was having back labor! My water didn’t break I did not feel pain no where else. 
My second child I was induced, when pains started I felt very light cramps in my stomach around my belly button. They went away and ALL this back pain came and I KNEW this is for real this is my labor again. 
This baby has been completely different. I’ve had back pain AND contractions in my stomach. The sharp knife tightening I’ve definitely got to experience them. I’m due any day and I’ve had about 3 big ones an hour. Still kind of waiting for like 5-6 an hour to head to hospital. 
But do not second guess it. Go to the hospital and wait hours and go home on a false alarm if you have to vs having a baby at home lol

Not necessarily. I went to the hospital for some tylenol at 37 weeks and they checked me "just for fun" and I was 7cm and his head was coming out. I thought I had just had too much fun that day(lazy boat ride. Picnic with family ect) and my back slightly hurt. It was very minimal pain. I had my son less than 15 minutes later.

I’ll be a FTM, too, so great question. Currently 32w3d and the slightest aches/pains make me think “OMG IS THIS IT?!” But then they go away 😂
