Who is right ?

Me and my sister was having a debate on weather Motrin and Ibuprofen is the same or not which it is and I proved it to her but then she said Motrin Ibuprofen is different from the Ibuprofen the doctor gives you but isn’t it still the same??

No. It’s the same. Motrin is just a trade name. However Motrin only contains 200mg of ibuprofen per tablet, whereas the ibuprofen prescribed by a doctor is usually 600mg per tablet.

Motrin is a brand. Ibuprofen is a medication. 
The only difference you might have between plain otc ibuprofen/Motrin and prescription ibuprofen is the strength. Otc ibuprofen is only 200mg, but prescription can be 100, 400, 600, or 800. If you want prescription strength ibuprofen, just take more or less tablets for that strength. So to get 800mg, take 4 otc tablets at once.

I don't know Motrin however you might find that it's blended with a different secondary painkiller. Some are mixed with paracetamol, some are mixed with codeine, etc. If the ingredients are the exact same on the bottle or box then it's the same thing, just a different brand.
