Does my 6 month old HAVE to start purée food?

Question

I have tried the “organic” purée pouches and I have tried making it myself but her eczema starts to flare up it doesn’t seem to happen with organic fruit or veggies but coles and woolies and fruit shops don’t stock very much verity and the closets organic fruit shop is 30 min drive each way. So can I just keep her on only formula for the next few months even if that means I have to give her 6 bottles a day?

You can’t not give her food just because the shop is far away?? If she’s ready she’s ready and you’ve already given her food now. 
Just go and buy a big chunk make it all up and freeze it

You could end up causing her problems in the long run if you delay starting solids. Order online if you don't have a shop near you.

You need to start solids, especially if she’s showing signs that she’s ready for it. Look into baby led weaning if you don’t want to do the purées.

What? Jeez just make your own. It’s not hard. Makes some dirty dishes, but at least you know what you put in it.

30 min isnt too bad of a drive.... I use to live an 1 hour one way for just a store..... Then again another 30 or so one way. 
I really wouldnt mind driving espically if it was for the baby. 
But it's defintely time to give baby some solids.

Keep track of which foods make her eczema flare up. Where do you get your food from? I’m sure you eat fruits and veggies. You can try soft cooked foods like butternut squash or sweet potatoes. My daughter also loved avocado, mashed bananas and homemade apple sauce at that age. None of those take that much time.

You definitely can’t wait another few months to begin solids. As babies brains develop and they become more active ect they need more nutrients. Maybe make an appointment with a dietician, paediatrician or even GP to get their advice if you need. I’m sure you go to the shops for your own food?? So maybe do a big shop, freeze portions for bub using organic stuff to get them use to flavours. I used ice cube trays for puréed foods and had one of sweet potato, zucchini, carrot, apple and pear ect and then you can just mix them together for different flavours.

We started solids by blending fruit and veg, and then pretty quickly we moved onto finely mashed, then mashed with more of a texture, then soft finger foods like boiled sweet potato, scrambled egg, etc. We never used the pre made baby food.

No. She doesn't have to get purees, but she should start to get some sort of food. She'll need veggies throughout her life and if they need to be organic you need to figure out how to buy organic food for your child.
