Have you ever stolen something?

Whether it was from a store or someone’s house.

When I was 6, I stole a candy bar from a small mom and pop shop near my house. 
My dad drove me 45 minutes to my grandparent's house when I took it out of my bag to eat it. 
I'll never ever forget the conversation:
"Ashley, where did you get that?" 
"The store!"
"I didn't buy it. Did Coco (the owner) give it to you?" Which he did a lot. 
"Well no, but I knew he wouldn't care " 
"Get your shoes on, you stole that. Don't you dare take another bite." 
He drove the 45 minutes back to the store, and parked the car to the side. I remember crying so hard because I had no idea what I had done so wrong. He explained the concept of stealing, and demanded I go in, return the candy to the owner, and apologize for stealing. 
He stood at the door as the owner told me to keep it, and my dad held his hand up and said "absolutely not. I'm raising honest children, and giving it to her now won't reach her a lesson. 
A few months later, the 80 year old store owner was shot and killed during a robbery. 
I've never stolen anything since that day in my life..2 decades later. I don't know why, but the idea that I stole candy, and the people who killed him also did it because they were stealing, really struck something in my childlike mind, and the concept of stealing is still one of the worst things to me.

It was mostly a problem in my younger years 
I went through a shoplifting phase when I was 16/17, but then I watched my sister get walked out of a Target in handcuffs after she tried to push a cart full of clothes straight out the door. After that, you could say I was scared straight

I was 5 or 6 and stole a pack of gum from the grocery store. It was grape bubblicious. My mom couldn’t stand gym so I chewed it late at night. And his it in tissues before I fell asleep. Lol never again.

Yes. I was homeless at around 19 and I was soooo hungry. I did take food from a few grocery stores. I’m not proud of it but I needed to survive.

I once stole nail polish from Walmart when I was 15 or 16. I was buying other stuff but I really liked the color and it was at least 9$ and I thought that is outrageous wtf I’m not paying that. 😖

When I was very young and didn't understand stealing, I took a pack of gum, my mom chewed me out and drug me back in there crying and made me return it and apologize. I learned my lesson, have never stolen a thing since and I dont tolerate the people around me doing it either.
