Normal weight gain?

My Dr. gave me grief for gaining too much weight this pregnancy. I’m 35+4 and 164lbs. I was 135 pre-pregnancy and I’m 5’6.. am I gaining too much weight? It doesn’t seem like it but my Dr. has me worried..

From your pre pregnancy BMI you should gain no more than 35 pounds for a healthy pregnancy. Usually they say about a pound a week after the first trimester. You have about 5 weeks left and have gained 29 pounds. So if you gain a pound a week from here on out then you should be fine. Youd gain 34 pounds which is right on the target. But it also depends on how much weight you have gained since the last appointment. Was it “over” what you should have gained ? It depends more on how much you gain the whole pregnancy but if you gain a lot of weight from one appointment to the next they usually like to remind you that you should do your best to gain steady weight and not over do it toward the end. Just be mindful .

That's honestly ridiculous. As long as you are making healthy choices I would ignore him. I gained 40 lbs with my son. Pre-pregnancy 135 lbs so in the hospital I was about 175 lbs. So obviously more than the 25-35 that is recommended. When I left the hospital I had lost 20 lbs and within 2 months I had lost all the pregnancy weight and some! Some women just gain more and some barely gain anything. Just make decent food choices and try to stay active as best you can and you're good!! Breastfeeding really helps with weight loss if you decide to go that route.

Thata 29 pounds which is within the range of 25-35. And you're towards the end so its not like you gained all that in the first trimester. Did your doctor give you a reason? You sound like you were at a healthy BMI pre pregnancy so it's not like they were recommending you only gain 10 or something (or at least I hope not). I definitely wouldnt worry, you sound eihht on track

Yikes. Your doctor would have hated me then. I am 4'11 and i weighed 130 pre pregnancy. By 39 weeks, i weighed 180 and my doctor said i was healthy and looked great, i was just carrying a big boy for my size. Now 5 months pp, i am 123lbs. So i wouldnt worry about it, just continue making healthy choices :)

I've gained about 25 pounds and my doc said to just not gain over 36 pounds I'm 27 weeks and am pretty sure I'm going to gain more then that I gained weight even when I had morning sickness for four months before pregnancy I was 112-115 now I'm 143 or more
