Disappointed I haven't dilated more since last appointment

(I'll be 38 weeks tomorrow) I got checked at 36 weeks and was 1cm and 60% effaced. I went into my 37 week appointment and was hoping I would've been more dilated. I was still a 1 and 75% effaced and -2 station. My doctor said he has dropped alot. He offered to sweep my membranes but said it won't do anything except be uncomfortable since I haven't made progress. So I decided not to. This is my first baby and I know he'll come when hes ready but I'm still disappointed. Anyone else experiencing that? I also asked about what I can do to hopefully help get things going he said to knock myself out expect not to use castor oil since is dangerous. What old wives tales have you heard of to help. Even if they don't work, it'll give me something to do.
