Epilepsy and pregnant?

Anyone else pregnant and deal with epilepsy? Or have experience with epilepsy and pregnancy? I wasn’t diagnosed when I was pregnant with my son so I’m just looking for other people experience... I’m so scared that my medication will harm the baby and I am allergic to the meds that are safe to take while pregnant... please share...

I have epilepsy. I wasnt born with it. But I had my 10 year old while being sick and on anticonvulsants. I am currently pregnant and on my anticonvulsants. I didnt have any complications. Everyone is different I cant tell you how it will be for you. But I hope that as we speak I can reassure u. It was a very gift and blessing.  You just have to be patient with yourself and know that it will be good. Dont be afraid to ask questions. Also I dont mean to be to forward but if you dont mind me asking what meds are on.

I am pregnant with epilepsy and I had to stop taking my Valium bc it causes birth defects. I used to take kepra but I don’t anymore. Everyone thinks I’m crazy for doing my pregnancy without seizure meds but I haven’t had a seizure since week 5!!!! I only take my vitamins now. I also have an auto immune disorder I was diagnosed with June 2019 but that’s a whole different story. Lol I’m just high risk asf. Also it’s if I do have a seizure or continue to have some I will start a baby safe medication but rn I don’t have to. Wish you the best of luck 💕

I am TTC and am also on Keppra.  My neurologist says to continue when (fingers crossed) I get pregnant because the benefits out way any risks.  Having a seizure while pregnant is very dangerous.  She also has told me she has not had any patients have issues with pregnancy and Keppra.

I have epilepsy and my daughter is 3 now. To be honest my seizures calmed down when i was pregnant. Id get long periods where i was totally fine without seizures, and by long i mean like 3-4 months.  I ended up doing my pregnancy with no meds. You can try cannabis oil, i dont know if itll work for u or if youve tried it. But that wouldnt hurt the baby if it works.

I am taking keppra while pregnant and heard that it is safe. I don't necessarily have epilepsy but I have an AVM causing me to have seizures. I guess they still consider it epilepsy until the AVM can come out. I had two bad seizures in March/2020 that left me paralyzed on the right side for 2-3 days. I'm currently 17 weeks pregnant. I was also taking gabapentin which is an amazing drug but that one didn't have as great as a safety profile so I stopped taking it.

I had the same fears so I had the harmful meds taken away and substituted with less risky meds because I had to treat my seizures.
