Laying baby down drowsy

Mamas who have chosen this sleep training method. How long did it take for your baby to start self soothing? I’m taking an online course now but the last two days have been horrible. last night we did this for one hour before he finally gave in. I feel like I’m missing out on time with my 4yo because it also took an hour to get him down for his naps.

Any tips? Advice?? Thanks!

Also LO only takes a paci if being held up to me or if I hold it in for him. It’s like he can’t hold it in his mouth on his own... but I feel like if he could he would be able to soothe a little bit better. We’ve tried about 5 different pacis and it’s all the same
