Childcare/Daycare?

First time mom here. I was just wondering if you guys are putting your LO to childcare/daycare.  how much do you guys pay and how do you guys find one? I need to put my LO once I go back to work and it seems like the place I find are expensive.

I live in suburbs of a big city, not to discourage you, but...
Started looking June 2019 at 3 months pregnant. Couldn’t find an in home daycare with infant openings until late 2020/early 2021 (ridiculous). The schools (primrose, Goddard) didn’t have availability until May 2020. 
I couldn’t chance a waitlist, but luckily a new school opened in July and we were able to reserve a spot to start yesterday. 
I would start looking immediately if i were you.

We are lucky we have a private babysitter that’s a family friend. We are paying them $11 an hour to watch the baby 1 day a week. I’m going back to work but I work 3 12 hour shifts and have 4 days off so I just need 1 day of care. We did invest in stuff for the sitters house to make it easier than dragging stuff back and fourth so she has her own formula/diapers/bottles/pack and play/bottle warmer and a small selection of clothes. It’s just easier than trying to pack everything.

$160 a week for 5 days. She only goes 3 days at most but they vary what days because I’m a nurse, hence the reason I had to pay for a full week. Not to discourage you but, most places have a waitlist. I started looking at about 7 months pregnant and was freaking out about finding one before going back to work because they all had a waitlist. I got lucky with one of the ones I looked at. They had an opening for beginning of January right when my daughter turned 6 weeks (and when I had to go back to work) which is the youngest they would take.

I’m in the military and got a spot on base. I’ll be paying $512 a month. All the civilian providers are at least $300 a week 😩 I’m in Maryland btw.

Prices greatly vary by area and whether you go to a larger company or an in-home daycare. I know people who pay $1600 a month and others that pay $750 a month.

I live in CA and will pay $1850/mo for full time care at the Goddard school. I didn’t look until I was 8 mo pregnant and was lucky to find care! Many places were full for the next 12-18 mo!

I think prices really depend on location. I will be paying $160 per week for full time care. Which is very reasonable compared to others I found. Start looking now. As others said, it can be hard to find daycare. See if your state has a place to look up licensed daycare providers. That’s how I found mine. Also, if your town has a general Facebook page, search a word like “daycare” and see if others have posted looking for a sitter. Good way to get names.
