I’ve had my helix for 7 months now. I struggled with sleeping on it and hypertrophic scarring for the longest time and just this month everything has been going great! I could sleep on that side and shield it with my arm for the most part from getting laid on, the soreness when cleaning it or bumping it went away, my hypertrophic scarring went down, and it wasn’t hard to move around when cleaning anymore. It seemed to be healing perfect until just this week. Friday night I forgot to clean it, but I figured it would be fine since I clean it morning and night every other day and it seems fine and is 7 months old. Saturday morning it was a little sore when cleaning which was weird since it had been fine for a month now, but I thought it was just one of its off days. Then Saturday night comes and it’s still a little sore but again I think nothing of it. I clean it again Sunday morning and it’s still sore. When I clean it Sunday night is when I notice this white sticky substance on the inside of my ear.

My first guess is that it’s either infected or getting there. Monday morning and night more of that substance appeared in the same spot, it doesn’t seem to come out of the back. I tried to smell it and I’m not sure if I smell anything. I clean it like I have been with dove sensitive skin body wash (piercer recommendation) and then I just go over it was a sea salt mixture and q tip to make sure all the soap is off. I do the same with my nose piercing and it’s perfect fine, even after forgetting to clean it Friday, and I have been using this routine for the past few months. Any advice??
