PAP SMEAR HPV POSTIVE?!

I’m FREAKING OUT been crying at work all day. Just got news that my Pap smear came up positive for HPV. Who has experience with this? The lady that informed me I think was the receptionist or assistant of my actual doc so I’m not sure how knowledgeable she is but at first she told me this is something that will likely not go away and then she went to talk to the doc.. got back on the phone and told me it is just inflammation and I don’t need to worry. I don’t need to refrain from sexual intercourse with my partner and he doesn’t need to get checked and it might go away on its own if it hasn’t already. They also told me if I’m super concerned theres more testing that I can get done but it’s nothing they feel I need to do. So many mixed answers in one phone call and so much mixed information when I research it. What is your experience? I’m so scared :(

Hi girl, Just to let you know there are many (like dozens) of different types of HPV, it doesn't mean you have the high risk version. 
I recommend calling the Drs office and asking if the doctor will speak with you or call you back regarding your results. Also explain that the receptionist gave you mis information without consulting the doctor first so they can address this lack of professionalism within the office so it won't happen again.

There are strains that do not cause any problems and go away over time. If the doctor does not seemed concerned then you may have one of these strains. I tested positive for HPV and I’ve been with my husband for 13 years. It hasn’t caused me any issues and I just had twins vaginally, since HPV can prevent some mothers to not deliver vaginally. If you are still concerned call and ask for a consult appointment to discuss the results or ask to speak to the nurse.￼

When I was 18 I had an abnormal pap smear & they told me it came up positive for hpv. They didnt seem concerned at all, I didn't get any symptoms or treatment. It went away on it's own I guess. It's been 10 years & all my pap smears have been normal since. 🤷🏽‍♀️

I've had hpv come and go over the years. I even had a leep procedure because I had cancerous cells they needed to remove that came up in a biopsy from an abnormal pap smear. There's nothing you can do to make it go away. I believe the 1st time I learned of the hpv was 2014 had my leep 2015. Been normal and abnormal since then
