Throw huge tantrums before taking a nap???
She's fed, she's got a clean diaper, and she's showing all of the tired signs. But as soon as I lay her down, she absolutely loses her shit. She screams, cries, and kicks her little feet around. She's really finicky with her pacifier, sometimes she wants it to sleep, sometimes she doesn't. She'll do this screaming fit for 15-30 minutes before she falls asleep. (I don't let her cry it out alone, I'll pick her up and calm her down or I'll rub her back while she's laying down and try to calm her)
I'm a FTM, am I doing something wrong here? She just started doing this about two weeks ago. It's soooo frustrating, and I feel bad that she wears herself out with the crying, but she does it every time I try to put her down for a nap.

It’s a normal phase.  It passes.  Just keep trying to calm her down and settle in them meantime xx

I wish I could find the source that I read about it on... but basically there are the three types of crying that will happen as baby learns to self soothe/learns to fall asleep on their own. The first is the protest cry, the second is the hysterical cry, then its the rhythmic falling asleep cry. A lot of parents when they hear the hysterical cry they go in to comfort baby and disrupt the cycle, meanwhile baby is actually almost through the cycle of putting themselves to sleep. Setting a timer and sticking to it has helped me avoid going in at the disheartening hysterical cry, and my little guy is now putting himself to sleep 99% of the time before the timer comes close to going off.

My son does this when he’s over or under tired. Also a tooth was popping through I noticed after he did the same thing for over an hour on a nap and I was so frustrated! Hang in there and keep trying! You’re not doing anything wrong. I massaged his gums with a vibrating teething toy and he seemed happy after that and went down for next nap more easily .

My son does this except he won’t fall asleep unless I pick him up. No advice here just letting you know I’m also struggling!!!

Yup. Identical tantrum before sleeps. All my kids did it around this time, and eventually grow out of it. (I won't tell you my 5yo still does it though. Lol)

We occasionally have pre sleep tantrums. Sometimes he even cries at the sight of whatever he last slept in - be it crib or rocking chair or swing. Sometimes it passes on its own sometimes we have to change what he is sleeping in but there was this one time where it became really bad and he wasn’t even drinking his formula. We took him to ped. Turned out he had thrush. Might wanna check his mouth. If not thrush then welcome to normal fussy baby behavior.
