Medication cost

Well I just ordered my stimulation meds for my retrieval and it’s going to cost a grand total of $4,995😳. Our insurance helped with some of it, but Menopur isn’t covered. The most expensive one was Gonal-F, which is over $2,000 on its own. I’m flabbergasted. I knew the meds were expensive, but seriously this is ridiculous. IVF is not a new scientific procedure so why don’t they have more generic brands at a cheaper cost? IVF is already stressful because you have to take off so much time from work, not to mention the emotional stress from infertility, and now the financial stress. I want this to be done and I haven’t even started my meds 😩

Welcome to infertility lol our cycle was estimated at 21,000 but with pgs testing extra freezing and testing of embryos storage additional medication we paid over 26,000. For our one cycle. Thankfully our first transfer was success and I’m now 14w4d w a baby girl I don’t think we could do it again. That was all of our savings we used and we are still getting random bills in the mail for hospital visits that insurance said they would cover and they didn’t. Also cost of the sonograms for my doctor to check eggs was like 140$ co pay with insurance and we had like 8. Prayers your first cycle works I remember being so stressed and thinking what if it’s for nothing but try to stay positive it just takes one good one!! I pray for you and your husband! My little miracle.

It’s ridiculous on how expensive everything is! I am very, very thankful that our insurance covered 85% of my med cost but I think 1 vial of cetrotide was about $1,000 and I had 6 of them! It’s absurd! But if a man needed so Viagra to get it on then that would be totally covered. 😡 So not fair! I wish you all the best!

I would get quotes from the ivfmed site.. we live in Europe so we lucked out on the prescriptions the total for meds (gonal-f 900, ovidrel, and orgalutran) has been €550 that’s $606 and some change.. but if I were back home in the US I’d be looking at ivfmeds since it seems to be on the lower end there.

This round I paid $7240 for everything. It also included omnitrope which is known to be pricey. This was even with the reunited discount!😬

I just received my stim meds yesterday and start them on the 30th and the coat was 6,030! Was hoping they’d be around 4,000-5,000 like they quoted us.

It’s totally absurd and absolutely awful. You know if men carried babies it would all be covered!! 😂😂. I can only say we feel you and you are not wrong to be angry and over it already. But you got this and it’s going to be a great result at the end of the day. Baby dust!! ✨💫🌟
