Pet proof house before baby?

Hello everyone, 
I would like to see what other moms’ experiences have been with dogs and bringing home a baby. Please share :) 
I have two dachshunds, live in a small apartment and the dogs sleep with us 🙈, and wouldn’t like to change it. We’re also planning on using a bassinet... 
The problem is, everybody keeps asking what’s going to happen with the dogs🙄? As if we’re not going to be able to handle the situation. Yeah, maybe I won’t take them out 3 times per day but they’re out family as well and can’t even imagine my life without them! 
So any reassuring experiences? Thanks!

For us, we have a Dalmatian so quite a bit larger. We ended up kicking her out of our bedroom completely because there were some nights, we did co sleep and it wasn’t safe. We also had gates all around our house and our dog got the living room. It became her zone and she loves it still almost 2 years later. I had a c section so I couldn’t walk or take her out for quite a bit but thankfully my husband could. My dog loves kids and babies so we knew she would be fine personality wise and today? They are best friends!

My mom had a dog in appartment And still took him out 3 times a day or more either my step dad or her and the baby because it's very healthy for newborns to get out in the fresh air than be cooped up in the house 24/7

We have 2 dogs. They don’t sleep with us so that wasn’t an issue. Our dogs are barkers so sleeping in our room would have ended with baby waking often. When my SO and I are both home the dogs get just as much attention as before. If just one of us is home with baby they definitely get less attention but are getting used to it. They have free range while we’re home but usually just nap on the couch. They are great with the baby and there really haven’t been any issues.

If you’re dog responds well to bringing baby home then there won’t be anything to worry about, but I will say make sure you’re still giving her attention when u can, and there shouldn’t be any reason u can’t still go outside 3 times a day. On the other hand, if your dog reacts negatively such as mine did, then u may have to adjust accordingly. She became aggressive towards our other dog and my husband if they tried to come near me (or even come into the room🤷‍♀️) so it added a level of stress I wasn’t prepared for. But we worked with her and she adjusted eventually, but my husband still will not trust her to be alone with our daughter (which there’s no reason she would need to be anyway)...and she no longer slept in our bedroom for the ten months that baby did because she would just bark randomly at everything and it was ridiculous. Just be prepared that your dog may be perfectly content with the changes, or it may not. Don’t stress over it until the time comes and you see how the dog reacts.

I have two dachshunds who I have kept and now have a 2 year old. A good baby carrier was a lifesaver for me to be able to walk my dogs and the baby all at the same time. The stroller was too much work while walking the dogs but maybe that’s just because my dogs are little maniacs 😂 
My dogs maybe don’t get the same amount of attention as when they were “only children” but I think they’re still happy! It has also been adorable watching them develop a connection with my little one!

Our dog was 6 months old when we brought our son home. We had gotten a puppy because we lost both of our senior dogs to cancer 4 months apart and the 2nd which was my first baby passed when I was 4 months pregnant. Our pup was amazing with the baby. We kept her at grandmas for the first night home. When my fiancé brought her in, she jumped on the couch, and I brought the baby over to her and she immediately laid down. She’s so good with our son. She’s a Cane Corso, pit bull mix. She does sleep with us. For the most part our son sleeps in his own room but he’s been sick so he’s been with us. She still sleeps in the bed with us when he’s there.

I have 2 smaller dogs (15ish lbs).  Not much changed when my daughter was born other then a little dog mom guilt because they weren’t getting their usual attention. I had to watch when the baby was laying on the couch that she didn’t get stepped or jumped on. 
My daughter is now 17 months and she’s a constant food source for them, someone to play tug of war with... she also gets nipped sometimes for fur pulling... everyone is learning lol.
