Idk if I’m having contractions?

I’m 38 weeks and I’ve had cramps that are as bad as menstrual cramps since 3 pm they are constant and it’s 8 pm now. This is my first pregnancy so I don’t know what contractions are supposed to feel like

I had cramps just like menstrual cramps all afternoon before I officially went “into labor”, I literally called my mom because I wasn’t sure if I was having contractions but basically I started having periods where the cramps were super intense for about a minute and then it would ebb again, and they were about 10 minutes apart

This is how my labors all started (I have 3 loving and pregnant again), the actual contractions will be time able and more intense.
