What should I do?
Today I had another stressful day at work. I work at a dental practice that specializes in only orthodontics.
This morning during our morning meeting my doctor was going over one (of the many!) project that she’s given me to do. I feel like she doesn't appreciate the work I had put into finding someone to clean our second office. When I was giving my reasons she said I was being too "emotional" about it, even though I was just giving her facts behind why I didn't want to work with the old cleaner. She shit on my work and said she was cheaper than what I had found and recommended. She blatantly wasted my time and completely frustrated me.
Right after this meeting I had a set of twins who were there for two back to back braces removals. It was tough and busy and I was on my feet all morning for almost 4.5 hours, as I was her only dental assistant for the day.
I hardly had time to take two sips of water since I was making sure the floor ran smoothly with my flow of patients. It went well! I did everything to make the retainers, which is taking their upper and lower impressions, pouring the stone, and working with the plastic with the teeth molds. I also had to clean the chairs and instruments. Then take care of the new patient we saw, who had moved up several hours, and prep the tray for bonding all while multitasking with making the retainers. Since I was the only one in the office x-ray certified and had the know how to scan teeth. I managed it
Then nearly at the end of my day her aunt from India is there, while I still had a patient in my chair. My doctors aunt is making me uncomfortable by being in my space. To make it worse my doctor is distracted and talking to her in their native tongue. Eventually she sees my patient, but had the front desk take her aunts pictures. As I was waiting to take the items to sanitize and turn the chair around they took over my desk and computer for over half an hour, while I still had a few calls to make and things to figure out for a different project she has me on. Eventually I grabbed all the items and wiped the chair down.
It was very frustrating and I left as nicely and as quickly as I could. Oh and her aunt pretended not to understand English when I tried to speak with her, but would talk to the girl who took her photos because her parents were also from a part of India. That’s why she made me uncomfortable.
Was I wrong here? What should I do?
