Unless there was some medical reason for a C-section, I wouldn't have one voluntarily. It's pretty major surgery, and caring for a newborn on top of that sounds terrible. I'm not one to heal from surgery quickly or respond well to pain meds.

How are you getting a free non-medically necessary c-section? And why on earth would you ever want to undergo major surgery and unnecessarily put your baby through that kind of trauma without needing to?

My doctor offered an elective c section for this baby since my first delivery was traumatic. Since I’ll have a newborn and a 15 month old to care for and because I’m honestly terrified of the surgery I turned it down.

I've had 2 vaginal births and 2 c sections and would NEVER opt for a c section unless absolutely necessary. A vaginal birth is a few few hours of pain, and you can get an epidural  (you'd need a spinal for c section anyway). C section is quick but is weeks of very painful recovery, and comes with more complications. I couldn't lay flat for days, couldn't walk much for 10 days, popping pain pills. ...I see zero advantage unless there's a medical issue.

I live in the UK so both delivery types are free at source.
I wouldn't get paid to voluntarily gave a C-section! 3 completely natural births and 1 C-section here...I would do a natural unmedicated birth a hundred times over a section!

I had a c section and wouldn’t advise them unless you need one I had to have one because my daughter got stuck in the birth canal and her heart rate started dropping. It’s surgery so you aren’t allowed to pick up anything heavier than baby or drive for a while after which is annoying when you have things to do. Bending over or walking are also painful for a while. My friends who had vaginal deliveries definitely seemed to have an easier time recovery wise than I did but at the end of the day all that matters is that baby and mom are both healthy. I’m terrified of having a c section. I give major props to c section moms bc I think I’d go into cardiac arrest on the table. I’d pick vaginal if I had a choice any day.

I tried so hard for a vaginal birth with my son! 31 hours of labor. Ended in emergency c section. And because my next pregnancy was twins my doctor wouldn't let me try a vbac. I then went on to have a baby girl. So three c sections and wish I would have been able to have vaginal births so bad! My stomach muscles will never be the same and I have nerve damage on the left side of my vagina. Near the left inguinal area to the left outer vaginal lip. It's kinda numb and if touched to hard and fast it's painful.

I had an emergency csection with my 1st followed by a scheduled csection with my 2nd. I pushed for 5 hours and her heart rate dropped. 2nd was scheduled due to my history. Not sure why you would choose surgery over a vaginal if it wasn’t medically necessary.
