So, I have been dating this guy for a few months and I adore everything about him. He’s somebody I could imagine spending my life with, BUT I’m not crazy about his family. I have nothing in common with them. I feel mean saying this, but his parents and siblings just seem to lack social skills... they are very immature in the things they find amusing and the things they say. I am trying to spend more time getting to know them, but it isn’t helping thus far. Being around them feels like I’m sitting in the middle of an awful comedy show. The thought of them being my in-laws makes me cringe... 😪

ETA: They are pretty nice besides their awful and sometimes inappropriate jokes. He is very family-oriented, tries to spend the day with them about once a week, refuses to move more than an hour drive away from them, etc. So I can’t really distance myself from them in the future.
