Cervical biopsy during pregnancy?

Question

I’m 4.5 weeks pregnant and just got a notice that a Pap smear from a month ago has some abnormal cells. The changes are benign but further evaluation and possibly a biopsy are suggested.
I’m really uncomfortable the idea of a biopsy while I’m pregnant, has anyone had a similar experience? 
I’ll be calling tomorrow when the office reopens to speak to someone but I could use some peace of mind.

That happened to me and my doctor just waited until after I had the baby.

They won’t do a biopsy, just a colposcopy.  I had one last week.

They won’t do it during pregnancy. I had the same thing and actually had the biopsy scheduled - but got pregnant before the appointment. They are supposed to use a scope to take a closer look sometime in the 2nd trimester but won’t be removing any cells.

It's probably a colposcopy and if you're pregnant they do not take a biopsy,  they just rub an acidic solution on the cervix and look at it through a microscope. Just checking to see if thre is any abnormal changes to the cervix.

I would not have a cervical biopsy while pregnant.  In fact, I wouldn't even have a pap.  I was due for mine when I fell pregnant, and paps irritate my cervix and leave me a little crampy when I'm not pregnant.  I also knew that if it came back negative, I wouldn't let them do a biopsy, and even if they found something, they wouldn't do anything about it until after birth anyway.  I talked with my doc about it, and she agreed with everything I felt.  Therefore, I am waiting for my postpartum appointment to have my pap.
