How are so many people getting early scans?

It seems like everyone on here are getting there first scan at like 8 weeks?? I don’t understand ... I know that some people have them if they think there could be a problem but surely not everyone thinks there might be a problem with their baby??? Has anyone just been offered an early scan? X 🤰🏼💕

8 weeks is pretty standard for the first ultrasound. It’s when you’re most likely guaranteed to get a heartbeat. Some people can get heartbeats at 6-7 weeks, but typically 8 weeks is the average. Also, 8 week ultrasounds give the most accurate measurements for a due date compared to any other week.

My midwife wanted to do a scan when I was between 8-9 weeks. I turned out to be 9 weeks and 2 days. Some dr offices want to do them earlier. Some want to do them later. It just depends on where you go!

Not me. I just get one at 20 weeks, though I got one at 12 weeks with this pregnancy because of some issues.

I live in the prairies in Canada and both times I've been pregnant, we did a first scan at 8 weeks.

UK is 12 weeks then 20 weeks so I wouldn't worry about it. Your time will come 😊

Most of us early scanners have had previous miscarriages.... so dr or ob wants to check everything is ok a little sooner.
