I need some honest opinions. I am a young mom, I had my daughter at 16 and she is now a beautiful 10 year old little girl! She has been asking me to make a tiktok account for a few months now. A few of the girls in her class have one and she keeps asking me. Now, I grew up in a pretty strict home and rebelled a lot in my teen years. I do not want my daughter to do the same thing, but at the same time, I will never be the “cool” mom that lets my kid do whatever she wants. She’s my only child and I’ve tried my best to raise her right! So, I looked at some of her friends accounts just to check it out before I make a decision. Am I crazy because it REALLY bothers me that some of her friends are on there acting like teenagers?! They’re in 4th grade!! I’m really of the opinion that social media can be toxic to mental health and I got rid of most of mine years ago. I already see one of her friends that keeps talking about how many more followers she has than the other girls and her page isn’t even private. Like are creepy grown men able to see this girl?! Where is your mom?! Okay so please be honest, am I being crazy? Should I allow it if she has a private account that I can supervise? I trust my daughter, she does great in school and follows the rules, so part of me doesn’t want to tell her no. I appreciate all opinions, thank you ladies!

I just wanted to say thank you guys so much for all the advice! I sooo appreciate all the wonderful ladies on glow 😊🥰 You guys are the best!! After spending a while this morning watching tiktok, I will definitely not allow my daughter to have her own account. There are way too many sexual/inappropriate videos. I was honestly really shocked at the things these young girls were doing and I’m only 26 myself.. it was bad. She does not have a phone yet, but she wanted to have it on her iPod touch. I decided after seeing some cute dog videos that we can make an account for our dachshund together on MY phone. We will look at tiktok and make some videos together 🤓🐶
