Burned my hand: update!!

Mikayla

Okay so I have a question. I used to be a baker so I used to get burns all the time right. Usually just small ones that would blister sting really bad for maybe 45 minutes max then they’d feel fine. Well today I accidentally burned my hand pretty good.. I has just used the stove top (on high boil for about 20 min) so it was very hot. Then I also had something in the oven and I’m 30 weeks pregnant so as I went to look in the oven I lost balance a little bit and put my hand on top of the stove to stabilize myself. Mind you I just used that stove top on boil. My hand was there maybe a second or two and extreme pain. I had burned the whole palm of my hand and fingers and there was a searing sound when my hand was on it. I went straight to the sink and ran cool water over it for 10-15 minutes and then put aloe on it. The burn was crazy. I had to run my hand over water over and over again. I ended up having my husband go get me some burn cream but that hasn’t helped either. It’s now been 5 hours later and the burn is still extremely painful to where I can’t bare it unless I run cool water on it. Also where the burns are is white. No blisters so far though. My hand is in excruciating pain. Not sure what to do because I mean what can a doctor do for me? And I can’t go even a few seconds without having cold on it before it becomes unbearable so how am I supposed to get through a doctors appointment. Any advice??

Update; I ended up having to go to the ER. The burns are 2nd and 3rd degree. In 72 hours I have to go back and get evaluated by a hand surgeon, burn specialist and the wound clinic. If the white parts (apparently cooked skin lol) aren’t looking like they’re gonna heal then they’re gonna have to cut those parts out. 😅 the ER doctor was shocked I made it 10 hours before coming in. But with being 30 weeks pregnant they can’t do anything for pain and burning so I have to keep a bowl of water next to me all times to Dunk my hand in and sleep with.
