Formula Feeding
How do you prepare bottles of formula for your baby? I plan to breastfeed as much as possible, but for all I know I may not be able to all the time or may have to use formula at some point. So I’d like to be prepared...
When I was younger, I remember my mom preparing my younger siblings bottles by either microwaving them or dipping the bottle in hot water to heat the prepared bottle. Now, I know guidelines have changed and it isn’t recommended to microwave. And I’ve also heard that dipping an already prepared bottle into hot water isn’t good to do either because it doesn’t properly kill bacteria. And what you’re apparently supposed to do is boil the water first, then let it sit 30 minutes to cool to about 70 degrees, and then mix in the powder and feed right away.
Maybe I’m wrong. But there are so many different requirements and things I’ve read that it makes a seemingly simple task so incredibly complicated and confusing. No one has time to boil water and wait 30 minutes when your baby is hungry. So that’s totally inconvenient and makes no sense.
Please tell me your methods!
