Do you take couples more serious who are married vs those who aren’t

I swear I see people who been dating 10 years and aren’t taken as serious as a couple who’s been together and married for a few years. Why is that 🤔

To me, marriage means that two people who chose to be together took steps to protect themselves. It’s more than a piece of paper. It’s legal protection as far as money, health decisions, and property. Money is paper. Your birth certificate is paper, but very important and meaningful. 
It does not measure happiness; however. It’s simply smart for people who are choosing to join their lives together.

I am judged all the time for not being married. We have been together 8 years, 1 child and 1 on the way. We have a house in both our names, we own 3 cars in both our names and a business in both our names! Like we are practically married just not a piece of paper saying we are. We aren’t engaged, we know we are committed to each other and at the moment we are fine with how things are.

Every relationship married or not is just as valid as another. Marriage doesnt mean anything considering half the married women on here are getting cheated on and abused but my boyfriend treats me amazing and I dont have to be married to him for us to start a family and live together and be in a serious relationship.

I personally don’t feel like that but I guess the logic is that if you don’t take your relationship seriously enough to get married then why should other people take it seriously. 
Again I myself don’t feel like this but just guessing why some people might.

Because there’s a title involved which isn’t fair. Because I know some marriages that are struggling to hold on.. a lot of infidelities as well. So because their married we’re supposed to take them serious and look at them as goals? I also know ppl who aren’t married that have been together for ages and have the best relationship.￼

Obviously that’s quite a general statement so generally I do feel I take most, but not all, married couples more seriously, mainly because of my own personal views towards marriage but that doesn’t make me judgemental towards people who choose not to marry but I do feel judged myself when people refer to marriage as a piece of paper. That feels like my marriage and wedding which I put a lot of time, money and effort towards us is being marginalised.

Because a lot of people still have the olden days mentality that marriage some how ensures that your relationship is more stable and secure than just dating (a mentality that was created way back when people didn't continue to date for several years vs just getting married, and when divorce was more taboo) 
Or at least, that's my assumption of why people think marriage is more serious than long term dating 
But the reality is that marriage doesn't guarantee anything. It doesn't mean your relationship is better, or stronger, or more secure than just dating, or that your partner won't leave you, or whatever else people seem to think

I don't see things that way.. but I've noticed alot of people think that way now that I am married.
