Lesbian or gay?

I've seen some girls saying they're gay but wouldn't it be lesbian? Like there's nothing wrong with it but I just want to know why. I know, stupid question :p just trying to educate myself. Plz no hate :(

Gay means homosexual in general, and lesbian means a female homosexual. They’re the same thing essentially, but lesbian is more specific.

Im AFAB, but identify as Agender, so I label my sexual orientation as gay or queer to fall more in line with my gender identity. It just feels more right than using lesbian. I think it just comes down to personal preference.

My wife refers to herself as gay. She says 'lesbian'  just doesn't  feel right. So gay it is 🤷🏽‍♀️

I use gay because I don’t see the point of having the word lesbian used. It’s a term that takes a bit longer to say, so I don’t say it so that I don’t take longer than I have to. :3
