My mother in law says I should use my brother in law’s car seat that he used for his two kids. I don’t drive so she said she will use it. The car seat was made in 2013 and it’s pretty beat up as it is sun damaged and the padding is falling off. I told her I refuse to put my baby in it and will just buy a new one. She thinks I’m being paranoid and should use this car seat as it was “expensive” when it was purchased

I may be paranoid about safety but I’ll not let her make me feel guilty for it. The car seat belongs in the trash. It was used for two kids and it’s not even being used for their youngest who would still fit in it as they got a new one, so why should I use it?
