Perfect Valentine’s Day

Miranda

I couldn’t have had a more perfect day. Having had our third round of IUI 14 days before, yesterday was test day. I’d tested on day 10 and nothing.

Long story short, but we thought we saw a second line hours after I took the pink dye test so I ran out and got a blue dye one. Still really hard to see. I sent photos of the test to the clinic who said it looked negative.

Before I went to work, my partner gave me an unexpected Valentine’s Day gift. We’ve been together over 9 years and usually she gets me either something tacky (her words!) or nothing. We’ve had years without even a card. I always complain that we barely have any photos together and she got me a photo album and filled it with all the photos she’s got of us on her phone. It was the cutest thing and means the world.

Then I went for work and bought a digital test on the way. I had a break and did the test as the clinic had advised if we weren’t 100% sure. It said ‘pregnant’. I was literally stunned and so happy!

We had planned to move straight on to IVF and start this coming week, but if the blood test today confirms it, we hopefully won’t have to! It’s also my partner’s birthday today and she said she wanted the IUI to work for her present.

For some reason, the year 2020 has always been important for her. It looks hopeful that this will be our year! Everyone in our lives tells us we should hurry up and get married and have kids (I’m 36 now and my younger sister has just had her second child) and it looks like hopefully all our dreams are coming true!

Keep the faith everyone. Things can sometimes take much longer than you’d like, but it isn’t a race; it’s a journey. And I wouldn’t have had it any other way.
