Would you help them financially ? Read first

Question

If your teen got pregnant or gotten someone pregnant would you help them out financially? This is after you find out they did it on purpose even though you have taught them about safe sex, birth control, conforms , etc. 
By helping them financially I mean paying for everything because they don’t have any source of income. Would you make them find a job? If they didn’t agree to getting a job would you kick them out and try to get custody of their child?
This is just what I’ve witnessed around me so I’m wondering if people here feel the same.

Honestly yes but under one stipulation... they will both live under my roof, must continue school, and go to college. I will not raise my grandchild but I will help. When they are home from school and not doing homework they will take care of their child; they will raise their child while it is not my responsibility they are still my children and it is my grandchild. They will learn responsibility while I right beside them, I will not hold their hand but I will be there to listen, they can have time to themselves and date nights you breaks but there won’t be any late night parting. They will be home when their child is sick, they are gonna have the full on roll of being a parent with just some guidance from me.

I would help them out by not charging rent/ect. But that's about it. If it was an accidental pregnancy, I'll help out by babysitting while Mom/dad are at work/school. But if it was planned, I feel like I'd feel less inclined to help. You knew what you were getting into, so now it's time to pull up your big girl panties and do it. Since you wanted to be an adult and plan a baby, you can figuire out a job, daycare, school, and pay for what baby needs on your own

Absolutely not. I wouldn’t support them financially and I sure as hell wouldn’t get custody of their child. They could find somewhere else to live and support themselves. If they became pregnant on purpose, then it’s their job solely to provide the needs and wants for that child. Want to make adult decisions? Then I’ll treat you like an adult.

My older sister was 16 when she went away to school in a different state, by 17 she was calling telling us that she was pregnant with some guy that she slept with just one time but they were going to be together and raise the baby, she moved in with his parents and about six weeks before her due date his mom kicked her out and she was on her own, my sister then have my mom drive all the way to Utah from California to pick her up bring her back home and help her get back up on her feet. But my mom told her “ you have exactly one year to get your shit together, if you have to get on welfare and apply for section 8 housing or do whatever you have to do to be on your own feet, no matter what you have exactly one year to get your shit together and move out of my house” now my sister was out within eight months of moving back home, she got a job at Taco Bell she apply for section 8 housing and got approved and was also approved for food stamps and Medi-Cal. So in my opinion what I’m trying to say is if your child was young enough to have a kid yes help them out while you can but don’t let them live off of you forever. Give them an ultimatum and let them know hey I’m your mom and I love you and I’m gonna help you but you need to learn how to get on your own 2 feet by yourself￼￼￼￼￼

They would have to work and be a parent. If they couldnt do it and im raising that kid then they would have to give up legal custody because I'll be damned if they think they can take over after I do the hard work.

I will not be giving them cash, but I will alleviate one of the biggest financial pressures by providing a roof over their heads. There will be expectations to finish school, figure out childcare, and be otherwise responsible for their kid. The grandchild doesn’t get a say, so I’m not going to screw them 🤷🏼‍♀️

I would be their support but I wouldn't financially aid her/him.. they made the decision to have a baby so they need to go out in the world and see what it has to offer.. I would babysit if I could.. but I also have to work as well.

I would pay for essentials (like a box of diapers, but not a wipe warmer or fancy trashcan), if needed but that kid is going to get a source of income. Even if its just doing extra chores around the house for me for cash or me paying in babysitting time so my kid can work and/or go to school. My child is still my responsibility while theyre dependent on me. 
However, not all grandparents can afford to do that.
