💙A fed baby is a healthy baby💙

Real moment: A fed baby is a healthy baby - no matter how this is accomplished! I keep having to remind myself of this fact! I had set an expectation on myself that Bowie would be an exclusively breastfed baby, and that isn't the case due to supply issues on my end. At first, he was having issues latching and had a minor tongue tie. As those issues improved, my supply couldn't keep up with his demand (he is a bottomless pit!!) and we had to turn to supplementing/topping him up with formula after many feedings - and it killed me to do this. I'd cry while bottle feeding him - feeling like such a failure as a new mom because my body wasn't cooperating with what it was "supposed" to do. It took me almost a full month of guilt-ridden feedings and lots of crying to finally come to terms that I needed to drop that expectation and realize 1)I am not failing as a mother 2)a fed baby is a healthy baby, no matter how this is accomplished 3)there is nothing wrong with formula feeding and 4)find a win with it, as it gives me a bit of freedom to let others step in and help come feeding time.

Yes, my goal is to continue to breastfeed as long as possible and to increase my supply, but I have dropped this negative attitude about formula and am finding relief in the breaks its giving me (and my nipples haha). Breast is best... but a well-fed baby is better! 💙💞💙 Keep up the great work mamas! You are all doing amazing!
