I just started working at this place called Main Event, it's like a giant restaurant/arcade thing. There's this Jamaican-American guy who is very attractive who trained me. Hes 17 and im 18. I was hostile to him and as much I hate to admit this- it was because I personally did not like black people. I wouldn't outright be racist to them but I believed oil and water don't mix & diversity causes more fights than it does unity. I would try to ignore him as much as I could but he had a cute smile with these adorable dimples, and he always had the best humor so I would end up laughing. He would greet me every time he saw me. If I said something racially insensitive he'd just be like "Can I give you a hug?" And I'd ask why, then he would tell me "Because how you feel about my people is something I want to change" After meeting him I've been starting to become more open minded and I regret how I felt in the past about people who look like him. I told him that I've been changing and he told me he was proud. I thanked him for the kindness and he said "No problem, Americans need to heal our country and that starts with educating people like you" I asked him out on a date but he declined because I'm a Trump supporter and he thinks I still hold hostility. He said we can be friends though. That hurt my feelings but I guess it's fair. It's just crazy how one person can change your world. I think I have a best friend for the first time in my life.
