So on February 11 I was sitting watching tv when I felt a massive gush of fluid and was sitting in a puddle. Quickly drove to the hospital to have them confirm my water had broken but that my cervix was still closed and firm, I was not having contractions, and baby was looking good on the monitors. However, the hospital I was at does not do births before 32 weeks so they transferred me to another hospital to be monitored.

The plan was to keep me admitted for a few days and see how baby was doing. I was not in any pain until about 1am when I had some mild cramping. The doctor decided to check me and I was 1cm so they gave me some meds to try to stop labour. Unfortunately when I was checked at 4 am I was 6cm and was having mild contractions frequently, they moved me to an l&d room where the nicu team prepared for my sons birth. I was able to get an epidural when I was 10 cm and with only a few pushes he was born at 5:45 am on February 12. Weighing 3lbs 10oz. He is perfectly healthy but will be in the nicu for a while to get bigger.

The original plan was a csection scheduled at 39w 2d. There was no indication that he would come early and doctors did not find any reason for why he is premature.

He is very sassy and loves to kick and get cranky at the nurses when they check him. But as soon as we have our skin to skin he just snuggles in and sleeps the whole time.
