Prepping to start foods!
My son turns 6 months next week so I’m planning to start solids after his doctor appointment that day if we get the okay.
After doing tons of reading, debating, and discussing with SO, i plan to do a mix of BLW and purées. The first month will just be a bunch of tiny amounts of different purées to watch for allergic reactions because we have a lot in our family. I also want to try to get his iron boosted (he’s anemic and can’t stomach the iron drops).
Today I made a few purées
Apples
Peaches
Pears
Sweet potatoes
Spinach
Carrots
Peas
Liver
Chickpeas
Lentils
I also made my own teething biscuits
Here’s my process if anyone is interested!
1. Steam

Purée thinned with breastmilk

Thick enough that it still stands up on its own though

Spread into a silicone ice cube tray

Freeze!

Once frozen label and put in freezer bags

I kind of made up the teething biscuit recipe based on a few I read but it turned out pretty good
1 cup oat flour
2 tbsp coconut oil
1 ripe banana
A pinch each of dried lavender and chamomile
I flattened it out on a cookie sheet greased with coconut oil, scored it with a pizza cutter, and baked it at 350F for 25 minutes
