What do you consider a “single mom”?

My husband and I are separated and have been for about 6 months.  Before that he was on drugs so he was emotionally and mentally absent.  He didn’t help raise our child at all, no diaper changing, no feedings, no baths, no nothing.  He did however continue to keep a job and pay the bills and I have stayed at home throughout this.  I do go to school full time but other than that I stay at home until we are officially divorced. 
He doesn’t consider me a single parent because he still pays the bills but he hasn’t lived with us in over a year.  
Do you guys consider me a single mother?  Please explain.

No i dont, because he pays the bills. True single moms pay the bills and have the kids. So i dont consider you a single mom your only taking care of the kids. Your not financialy supporting them. Sorry

I think you are a single mother, considering the definition of a single mother is one who is divorced or is separated and raising children/child alone.  No where in the definition does it say “financially”, just just says raising a child.  
A father can pay child support and live in another state and that mother is considered a single mother.

No, I don't. I consider a single parent one who is raising the child alone in thier household (meaning, living seperatly from the father, or another partner). That would include paying all the bills alone, doing all the childcare alone, and essentially running the entire household alone. 
If you live with him, and he's supporting you, you aren't alone, so you aren't single. You may not have much help with your child, but you don't have to worry about working, finding childcare, paying bills, ect, which is a HUGE help to you. Single parents do alllllllllll of it alone, you don't.

A single parent has at minimum, partial financial responsibility for their children. Majority of stay at home parents could be considered single parents by your definition.

I mean the government considers you a single parent if you aren’t married. I couldn’t care less if you call yourself a single mom. It doesn’t affect my life. No matter if you’re fully supporting a child financially and/or emotionally/physically, it’s freaking hard. You keep doing your best!

No. You’re being fully provided for, by the father of your child. That’s not being a single mom.

No, because he is financially contributing and you are able to stay home. A single mom wouldn’t be able to do that.
I’m sorry your raising your child practically on your own though. That’s tough. I hope he comes around to coparent.
