The best way I’ve ever heard explained is Tea. 
If you ask someone if they want tea and they say ‘oh god yes please’ then great make them tea. 
If you ask them and they say ‘Ermm I’m not sure’ then you make the tea and give them the option, but be aware they might not want it and that’s ok, but you have to accept it. 
If you ask them and they say ‘no’ don’t make tea. 
If they say ‘yes’ but then change their mind that’s ok, but don’t force them to drink the tea. 
If they are passed out or asleep by the time you get them the tea, then you do not try and give it them, you don’t force them to drink it or try to wake them up. People who are not awake do not want tea.

I’m sorry this happened to you. I’d try talking to someone you trust about it or a therapist then decide what you’d like to do. Healing for yourself is the most important thing and if that involves reporting the guy or just cutting him out of your life then do what is best for you.

3 years ago I would have said no to this question because I used to have sex with guys a lot when I was drunk. Still conscious, but drunk. It wasn’t until New Years 2016/2017, I slept with someone (who would soon become my boyfriend) and passed out in the middle of it. I woke back up but I don’t remember a lot of it. He kept going so I’m not sure if he knew whether or not I was passed out but I definitely consider that rape. It’s been three years since that happened and he still doesn’t know. We’re broken up now so he probably never will either.
