Do you think our generation will see the demise of the planet / human race?

I have anxiety over this.  I only seem to see bad things happening in the news.  From coronavirus, climate change, antibiotic resistance, political tensions- the list goes on....

Every generation went through shit. Imagine how people living during the plague felt. Or my grandparents growing up in Nazi Europe. We have knowledge at our fingertips, we have the chance and the resources to do better.

No, but your children and their children could if we continue to do nothing. 
We live in a climate emergency, a crisis at a scale larger than any threat humans have ever faced. In the next 20-30 years, the entire world has to reach carbon net zero to mitigate some of the worst effects of climate change at the end of this century. 
For decades, the fossil fuel industry has been allowed to overrule and ignore warnings about this emergency. Significant, sustained, life and world changing action must define what remains of this century if you want your kids and their kids to have a habitable world.

No. Epidemics and other issues have been going on since the beginning of time.

I mean they’re predicting high temps in France of 54 degrees Celsius (130 degrees F) starting from 2050. There will be a lot of people who will be victims of climate change and disasters unless immediate and drastic action is taken. To me, it’s very possible for this all to end in catastrophe. But I do have hope that we can try and adjust and adapt...unsure who and how many we’ll lose along the way, that depends on what we do now!

The world was on the path to destruction long before any of us were even born.

The sad thing is, either things have gotten worse or the fear mongering has. The uproar over the coronavirus is insane when you actually think about how many lives the flu claims each year. Remember Ebola? Swine Flu? Bird Flu? Mad Cow? The CDC even said that people should be more worried about the flu. Get your shots, hey if you don't believe in vaccines more power and good luck to you . News needs something to focus on now that the impeachment is over. They'll hammer it in and the dominos will fall and it'll blow over when the next big thing happens. I've never been keen on climate change. The Earth has gone through numerous phases of warming and cooling, has rid a number of species from the face of the Earth without human help, and has survived billions of years of abuse. Why do people all the sudden think it will end in the next 50 all because we're driving SUVs that have really only been around for the last (total guess here) 30-40 years? I'm surprised that they're crowing about how we have destroyed our planet with plastics and Hummers when they were literally pumping black smoke into the air during the industrial revolution. Politics is politics and as long as there are separate parties, hell even as long as people have opinions, there will be tensions. People have gotten more sensitive and hot headed, reacting to every little thing with anger. It's becoming a natural impulse for people to react with extreme anger or violence towards an opinion that doesn't align with theirs. I think that everyone should do their part - pick up after themselves, keep good hygiene, vote their conscience, live and let live,  etc. these small things alone would be a start to help make the world a better place. The world will end when it ends if it does. One person driving a Prius will not save the world any more than one person eating just salad will save the world. It's the natural flow of existence. ✌️
