Cereal a must?

Went to our 6 month check up today and our ped recommended (for the third time) that we give our baby cereal along with purées since he’s EBF. She said she wants to make sure he’s getting enough iron in his diet. What do you guys think?

Look up foods that are high in iron.  If baby isn’t anemic though, no need to stress about it at all.  My son is anemic so the doctor said to feed him organ meat and leafy greens.  Seafood chicken turkey beef etc are all good to include in an infant’s diet.  I made a beef liver pate, which he loves, but will start shredding other meats soon for him to start feeding himself.  Puréed spinach to mix in with other foods too.

I was told the same thing for iron. My son wakes up he gets some cereal and possibly a little purée then around lunch more purée and at dinner more purée
