Reasons for inductions?

I see so many people being induced earlier than their due date. Curious if I should ask my doctor if he has any plans for induction prior to my due date. What are some of the reasonings for being induced?

Inductions SHOULD be medically necessary which can be determined by your doctor. You can ask them when an induction might be discussed. For me- it’s after 41 weeks unless baby is having issues. 
A lot of doctors induce for totally unnecessary reasons. 
Some women get induced for pre eclampsia, gestational diabetes, low amniotic fluid, etc.

I’m getting induced because gestational diabetes 1 week before my EDD. If there isn’t a medical reason my doctor would not induce.

Most doctors won’t induce unless it’s medically necessary.  My doctor won’t do it unless it’s medically necessary or if you’re over 41 weeks.   The only reason I’m getting induced at 37+4 is because I have Cholestasis and when you have that, it’s medically necessary to be induced between 37-38 weeks because anything after that is a higher risk of major complications and tragedies like stillbirth.  
I get why some women want to be induced early because they’re uncomfortable, in a lot of pain, etc, and during the last few weeks, it gets miserable. But I, personally, think babies will come when they come and no need to rush it.

My placenta just gradually stops providing oxygen and nutrients to baby. Which is why my baby has IUGR. After 37 weeks me and baby are at risk. I have a new Doctor now or midwife. I keep telling her why I need to be induced but she’s being stubborn. I told her if something happens to me and my baby it’s going to be a huge problem. Tomorrow is my appointment. I’m either getting induced or going to a new doctor. I’m not going to deliver a dead baby. I have a bad feeling. I just want me and my child to be safe and healthy

I’m being induced at 39+3 if he isn’t here early. Mostly because of my awful PGP, but my doctor will induce anytime after you hit 39 weeks.

I was induced at 39w2d this pregnancy for unstable lie. My baby girl was constantly flipping from breech to transverse to head down even after 38 weeks. So, we scheduled a possible ECV procedure which if successful, would lead right into my induction. I got “lucky” and we didn’t have to do the ECV because she was head down when I got in for my appointment. My midwife knew that I wanted a vaginal delivery and she was afraid that if I continued on in my pregnancy that she would be breech again and that would lead to an unplanned C Section.

I'm being induced on the 5th as my last pregnancy was 9lb 8oz and had shoulder distocia so they don't wanna chance it happening again il be 39 weeks and 4 days
