Can the medical assistant tell me my results?

I called today and they have my genetic testing results in for the baby but she said the doctor will review them and call me? Is this normal? Is she not allowed to tell me before the doctor?

This is pretty normal. Results like this require the provider to look at the results and interpret what they mean. In my state, it is out of the scope of practice for a medical assistant to interpret results or give test results without the medical provider delegating them to do so. I would question any provider who asked a medical assistant to give me genetic testing results in the first place. Your provider should be the one to give you these results.
