what do you even put in a bedroom?!

i’m 19 and moving into my own apartment soon. currently my bedroom doubles as my 10month old sons room. i have his crib and dresser, his swing , and i just have a big chair with a footrest (which will probably go to his room as well), my full bed, and a TV. 
the apartment is 2BR and i feel like the room will look really empty. i also have string lights which have been on my wall forever with a couple other decorations. i would like to have some more mature looking things on the walls, but not completely bare. maybe a mirror? hanging plants? any ideas? also i do like the string lights but would like something more “mature”. maybe color changing light bulbs? 
for my sons room i know i want to add in floating shelves for the walls. i have lots of ideas for his room and none for mine. i do NOT like a crowded space. i like it to look clean and simple, but inviting - not cold and empty. 
sooo all that being said, PLEASE give me any decorating ideas for my bedroom! maybe..nightstands? lamps? i’m not a fan of dressers or huge clunky furniture. i prefer just using closet space plus this apartment has built in closet shelving (😍). 
is a bed, tv, nightstands, a chair (thinking of getting a new one), and maybe a rug enough? plants? how do i coordinate all this?

In my room I have my bed, a side table on both sides, a dresser, a desk, and a book shelf with decor/special stuff on it!
In my sons room his bed, dresser, and one of those cube organizers with all his toys and books on it.

I honestly don’t spend a lot of time in here so kept it pretty basic. Have a dresser and a hamper on the other side of the room

I like keeping thing simple so my bedrooms usually are a bed, 2 night stands, a dresser, one of those cube storage things and a rug

I like my room very simple and non cluttered. I just have dainty side tables on each side of the bed, my daughters bassinet, and a storage ottoman like this at the foot of my bed.

Everyone has their own taste and opinions so it’s really up to you as to what you like. I personally wouldn’t think to put color changing bulbs in my room if I wanted mature. I had those in my room when I was 16.

Starting out your apartment will look empty but as time goes by you’ll acquire more stuff. In the babys room. A bed, dresser, swing, chair. In your room, a bed, nightstand, dresser, maybe a small desk or make up vanity if you feel the room is still empty. You can hang floor length curtains to make the room feel more complete and hang pictures/art on the walls to make it more cozy. Eventually though, your kid will have enough toys filling his room you won’t want anymore furniture taking up the space! Lol. 😂
