Boy trouble

I have liked this guy recently and the only people who I would tell were my closest friends. One of my closest friends that I told about the secret told the guy I like (his best friend). I did stand up for myself and asked why he did that. He says that he was trying to help me shoot my shot, but now the guy I like won’t even talk to me. Should I be mad or glad that he was trying to help me. Pls comment.
