Why can’t people take a joke?

Guys, my MIL is a weird one. I can’t even get into it. We don’t have the best relationship, but I try to be kind.

This morning I texted her that our daughter is getting so smart and big. I mentioned that her father, “says the jury is still out.” And that he acts like, “she should be speaking in full sentences.” She is 11 months old. I mentioned all of this jokingly and in a lighthearted manner.

She then texted my husband about how he is going to ruin our daughter’s self-esteem and some crap about Einstein not talking until 3. She also told him to call her. 🤦‍♀️

Now my husband is mad at me because he says I shouldn’t have said that and now his mom will tell everyone our daughter is behind (which she isn’t).

Lord, help me. It was banter for Pete’s sake.
