Ultrasounds are incredibly inaccurate at this point at guessing the weight. Don't let it discourage you in the slightest! I had GD with my first and she came out 10lbs 6oz by c section for a failed induction. (She was estimated at 39 weeks to be a little over 8lbs) They told me the same thing, that she was so large they had to corkscrew her head out of my pelvis. When I was going for my VBAC, the ultrasound at 39 weeks estimated my son at 11lbs 1oz. Everyone panicked, my Ob yelled at me for 'endangering his life by my selfish decision to VBAC' and I rocked my VBAC and delivered my 9lb 8oz son into the world so fast with absolutely no complications. I had a second degree tear and an absolute amazing recovery. 2 weeks of what I'd call discomfort, not even pain. It's all about baby's position, not their size. My midwives have seen a 13lb baby delivered naturally. My friend had a 10lb 7oz baby vaginally and didn't even tear. Don't be afraid of a big baby and don't let it deter you. Work on spinning babies from here on out to get baby into the optimal position for labour and trust your body. You can do it, mama!
Big baby :(
Anyone else feeling really sad and discouraged after being told they’re having a huge baby? Im 33w3d and just had an ultrasound and of course baby is 99th percentile. I had a c/s last time after 4 hours of pushing because baby was so big she couldn’t rotate and never came down into my pelvis. Ug.
