Daycare closing?

I saw the question on here what will your bill be if your daycare closes but I’m wondering what will you do? I fortunately can wfh but I can’t work while watching my 4 month old daughter if daycare closes, but I can’t take 4 weeks off work and my PTO is wiped after my maternity leave. My husband doesn’t have wfh option either and only has so much PTO.

Honestly, with all of the K-12 schools and universities closing, I would find a responsible teenager to hang out at your house w your kiddo(s). Whether you’re home or not, doesn’t matter. Put something on your community fb page. There are a ton of them looking for something to do. You could also look for someone who TA’s or substitute teaches since they are not being paid.

We are allowed to combine wfh and watching the baby here in Belgium due to corona. My husband and I both are wfh and take turns watching the baby. I do most of it though as I am working in the living room where I can see him play while my husband is in the office, still, his breaks are usually feeding our 7.5m old. My working hours have been extended. Where I used to work from 9 to 5, I now work from 8 to 6 so I have a bit of leeway to entertain the baby, change him and comfort him when he is upset. It is not ideal and sometimes it is hard to focus but so far it is working out for us.

The government is covering the cost of us keeping him enrolled, in keeping him home tho because I just lost my job

Neither my husband or I can work from home. However my dad is home at the moment and my mom was just told to work from home Friday. Between the two of them they have offered to watch him for me if my daycare closes. My work is also trying to organize daycare assistance for all the parents (employees with older kids that could watch younger ones for example)
