When you divide 6 by 4 how do you get 1.5?

I can’t for the life of me figure this out.. where the hell does the decimal come from? Where does that 5 come from???

If you have 6 apples and want to share them with 4 friends. You give each friend 1 Apple. You will have 2 left over. 2 apples can be shared between 4 friends if you cut them in half giving each friend .5 (one half) an apple to go with the whole apple they have. 
This means each friend now has 1 and a half (1.5) apples.

.5 means 1/2 .   How many 4s can you put in a 6? One . So that’s the 1. You can still put a little more and that remaining about is .5 so you can fit 1 and a half 4s into a 6 (half of 4 is 2 , 2+4=6)

1.5x4=6
if you break it up, 1x4=4  then 0.5x4=2
4+2=6
